The Instron 4505 consists of a test frame fitted with a movable crosshead. The crosshead can be adjusted to a suitable height in order to accommodate a specific test design. The user is able to set up the parameters of their test using the software. Safety features are available in the form of physical stops that can be set to constrain the movement of the cross-head. The Series IX software both controls the machine and aquires data, typically at a rate of 10 points per second for the duration of the test.
The Instron 4505 consists of a test frame fitted with a movable crosshead. The crosshead can be adjusted to a suitable height in order to accommodate a specific test design. The frame is fitted with an attachment that enables the user to interchange between load cells (1kN and 50kN). To enable the application of static loads the machine is equipped with a control unit which interfaces between the software (series IX Automated Materials Testing System) and the frame. The test frame is engineered as such that the force applied by the load cell during a test is driven by two mechanical screws. There are various testing jigs that can be attached to the frame. These include jigs designed to measure the friction between an orthodontic wire and bracket, the removal force of an implant, and biaxial-flexural strength and modulus.
